We, well actually I, have registered interest. I really want to go, Mrs has not yet joined in enthusiastically. Does that count? Any hints on how to generate her enthusiasm?

Dicksontwo, you have to find her currency. Does she like op shops? If so, find where the op shops are near the Mega. If retail shopping, find those... etc......

That's why it isn't hitting 500
Not so. We have registered our interest on the NZ site but we just haven't booked our flights yet.

And our first 'celebrity' has logged a Will Attend log - Jeremy Irish, one of the founders of Groundspeak will be attending :)

So that little cat is out of the bag, along with the fact that Brian Roth (one of the other co-founders of Grounspeak is attending). Don't worry, there are still more surprises to come.

Dunedin is one of the few spots in NZ I haven't been to, so I'm looking forward to it. I also have some year 2000 caches to grab while there.

Unfortunately, the rest of The Spindoctors won't be there, but I will have at least one close relative in tow.

Some not so shonky logic when booking an airfare from Australia to NZ for the mega-event...

It may work out cheaper to book two one-way air tickets rather than a return ticket. The journey back to Australia will be calculated and paid in NZD, at current exchange rates this may be cheaper than the component of the return fare. It also allows you to mix and match airlines if that be your desire. And it seems that some airlines do not have, or will waive credit card surcharges in NZ.

I just saved around AUD60 each. \:D/

Yep. Air New Zealand calculates based on where you start the trip from. If you start from Australia, book return, then both legs will be AUD. A single AU-NZ flight will be AUD, and a single NZ-AU flight will be NZD as it is deemed to start out of NZ. Not sure if this holds for other airlines, but it should work for AirNZ. AirNZ does have credit card surcharges from memory. I learnt the lesson the hard way when I was booking my flights to Adelaide for OZ Mega.
