Cons: GCA caches (not always sought after), may languish.
We all play the game differently. We try to pick up any GA caches that we go past and are often looking for a "different" track to follow to get from A to B, so any of the ideas already floated would get our interest. Especially if there was a specially minted c@w pathtag to commemorate the idea or completion of the series. :D :D :D

I have noticed that (at least here in the ACT, and at some events we have been to) there is a "new" found interest in GA caches with the Gnomes and Burke & Wills caches.

Pros: Geeky, nerdy and very cool idea.
Cons: Maybe not enough to engage everyone.
And its already been done...
I meant it is a good series that spreads across a large(ish) area and maybe something like that would be good...
caughtatwork wrote:Place Names say A to Z in each state.
Pros: Cool idea.
Cons: Not really a "trail" per se.
I don't think it needs to be a trail as such - In fact I think is better if its not... :D
Although I can see that in the first week letters are going to be used many times over...

The A-Z towns idea does give each state a fair 'share' of caches.

Most towns try to encourage tourist by promoting at least one "Town Icon" whether it is just a lookout or "the Big Banana" or the "Oprah House". These Icons are the ones which attract visitors and are usually ones that cachers would like to visit while in a town. Why don't have a cache placed in proximity to these icons.

Smaller towns without tourist icons usually have either a railway station or some other feature which attached the residents and was/is the focal point of the town.

My humble opinion only, not meant as discouragement of any or all discussion.

A series of caches, whether they be part of a trail or not, placed in locations of interest are just caches. That's why we would hide and find a cache. I'm hoping to get a series or trail of caches that might not exist otherwise.

IBEM would be cool because they all relate to the theme of the song.
M1 or National Highways would be cool because they all have the same thing in common. Along the M1 or National Highway.
Country railway stations would be cool as they are related.
"The Backroads to Everywhere" would be cool as you could get off the mail roads, visit tiny towns and have a good deal of caching fun along the way.

Random caches placed in locations because there are cool things, should just be normally placed caches.

Again, IMO, not necessarily a shoot down of any individual idea.

Did I just hear Black Bunny offer to donate the first 100 pathtags?

To himself?
I think the chances of completing the series would be extraordinarily difficult.
Not everything get a shiny (although I have been bad in the past by the use of shinies as encouragement).

You wouldn't believe the lengths I have to go to, to have shinies available for Black Bunny, to get him to help out around the house. He won't do ANYTHING without a suitable incentive any more - I blame C@W and Geocaching Australia. -)

I wouldn't say that. I love the IBEM idea. I'm trying to think of ways to include our Western and Southern friends.

How about an IBEM type series per state with a mystery thrown in from the series which can only be solved by visiting the state caches - it could be that the clues are for a cache in another state (similar to the XoE series) to provide the link to the various caches.

Admittedly the Territories would require some extra thought as towns (at least in the ACT) would have to be replaced by Suburbs/Localities if they were to have their own series. These would then form the Geocacher's version of the IBEM song.
