Chirps

Post by gmj3191 » 15 April 11 2:12 pm

Well Chirps haven't exactly set the world on fire.
There are only four Chirp equipped active caches in Victoria, and two of them are mine.

Yes. I guess so, when you compare it with a cast off mint tin and a slip of paper, it does look pretty expensive, but I think investing in a decent cache is a socially responsible thing to do, and helps make Australia great :D

Oi! No aspersion casting on my caches
What with the ammo can, 2l sistema and goodies, they cost be well over $30 each to make, so adding $25.00 for a chirp makes caughtatwork sad.

Agree, but then you need to invest in a decent cache PLUS the chirp...

The cost of the chirp however doesn't bother me - the financially-based exclusivity it places on those who can find it does. There are ways you can achieve similar/same/better things with wi-fi and radio and such which I personally get much more excited about because they're innovative uses of existing things and are much more accessible.

Stupid water works are still blocking access to chirp chirp, we just drove past again. I don't even know if it is still sitting there waiting for me once people can get into the park.
I noticed that SA has a chirp cache by accident, however the owner neglected to select the attribute so it doesn't show up in my beacon PQ.

Yes, this technology can be dangerous in the wrong hands ...

I have one about to go out in Bundaberg, maybe this weekend if I manage to get my act together.

I'm waiting for a Chirp hack to come out so that at least the receivers might be alot cheaper.

Full marks to lemmykc for being prepared to invest in our activity and place a Chirp cache in an ammo box even.

Yes well the chirp is not that bad price wise but the GPSr you need to find them is a bit on the expsesivl priced just to find them. ](*,)

The beauty of this cache, which I finally managed to complete today, is that the chirp is only one element of a really well constructed cache. The chirp is not the reason for the cache, only 1 part of it. It is a really wonderful cache with twists and turns. I am quite proud I found it and seriously proud that someone under the age of 15 can produce a cache of such quality. Well done lemmy

Now there are 7 active chirp caches, plus philip's one makes 8 :D

Thanks for the nice comments on my Beach Birdies cache :) I think the only thing that lets the cache down is the fact that you do need the things that you do. The UV light and the Chirp compatible GPS, it is a bit much to ask for one cache. The amount of finds on the cache is evident of this.

Anyway, Thanks for the comments :)
