Archived GC Virtual (2 Dogs Trigs Cache)

Post by pjmpjm » 07 May 11 7:00 pm

Still would be interesting to see how many aren't logged in the database. #51 Great Southern Land: (5) That's the Trig Archived now of course.
Hmmmmm.

We can usually log archived caches . . .

After logging a Trig yesterday in (finally) noticed they were all 1 Difficulty/1 Terrain.

While it would be hard to argue with the Difficulty as they are obvious from metres away I am going to adjust the Terrain on some, if required.

I think by default they come out as 2/2 when you create one... however as they are a public listing the beauty is you can go in and edit the difficulty. I always do this for Trigs I FTF or that haven't been reviewed since publication.

When you create a new TP, you can assign D and T.
For the original set we created them with a 2/2 because we didn't know what the terrain would be.
If you know better about a TP, then please edit it accordingly.

Found (and published) my first NZ trig: http://geocaching.com.au/cache/tp5886

Very different style to NSW trigs but I recognised it from some logs on other NZ trigs I've looked at before.

Seems a bit weird publishing it under "Geocaching Australia" - Geocaching "Australasia"?

Some interesting discussion on the removal/preservation of trigs on this bushwalking website.

http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2622

Certainly some eco-nazis out there who want the view to be as 'natural' as possible.

Amazing thread by non-geocachers! Never realised that anyone cared or even noticed.

I guess I always blamed 'lack of interest' and 'inherent human love of vandalism' for their gradual demise.

Anyhow, thanks for the tip to this web site . . . http://www.bushwalk.com

Maybe this is what trigs on Mars look like . . .

But good work! Have never logged a trig outside NSW myself . . .

I was just looking up how many trig finds we had and was delighted to find we are pushing 200.
Looking at this chart you can see there's a breakaway group of five from the peloton but rogerw3 far and away most likely to win the Tour de Trig.

Just met with rogerw3 this afternoon and we're talking about another trig expedition or two . . .

Would love to break the 300 barrier . . .

But of course rogerw3 is far ahead.

What do you mean, there are plenty of Trigs in the UK and I am sure all over Europe. Except it may not be a good idea to take photos of Trigs in China when you get there!
