Based on this "The event is an exciting logistical event and we have scoured the country and found the best location that will dazzle all geocachers." It must be in Newcastle! Visited there on my way home (well, its kind of on the way to NZ... Isn't it??) from Wagga Wagga and had a great time - but did run out of cachers to do after a couple of days.

But Newcastle is in NSW, same as Wagga. Seems more likely that it will be in a different state (I think)

Ballarat and Bendigo are too far apart for the event, but any of the NSW / VIC border towns - Albury/Wodonga, Echuca/Moama, Mildura/Buronga (Covers VIC and NSW and a stones throw from SA) would probably have two mayors and two state tourism authorities. Could do "Canberra and Queenbeyan" but we need to re-establish plenty of the caches (and bridges) first!!
