A caching, photography and fishing holiday in NZ sounds just the ticket ! Depending on dates, juc_cachers (4) would love to attend.

Although I have made several visits to South Is particular Chch for vacations and cache hunting trips with my old dear NZ friends who introduced me to the World of Geocaching in 2003. Look forward to it very much and locked in my Diary for 2012 Mega. \:D/ \:D/

As others are saying NZ would be our first option if we have to pick one over the other. While the Aus Megga looks ok it is just another event in Aus. The NZ one would be the first in NZ and in an area where I have not cached before. Bring it on I think you will find plenty will still come.

Oct 2012 is still good for us family of 4 travelling from QLD

Australia has had it first MEGA. I for one would still love to go to New Zealands's first Mega. Preference to attending would be to not go to the Australian event as I went to the first one so if 2012 is still a go even though it would probably have to be near the end of the year then I will be arranging my annual leave to coincide with the NZ one and not the Australian event.

Chugger (my 11yo) and I would absolutely love to come over from South Australia for this one - flights are easily sorted as I already have the frequent flyer points, just need to arrange a car and some accommodation as I don't think it will be practical somehow to bring the camper trailer.

Please, please, please go ahead with planning the event, we absolutely love NZ and have been yearning to come back over again!

A couple of suggestions I will make :
- give first dibs on cabin type accommodation to overseas visitors who will only be able to bring limited resources
- organise a bit of a pool of resources that overseas visitors can borrow, eg. tents, camp mattresses
- suggest people put their hand up if they are willing to car pool with others who won't be able to have their own vehicles there

Thanks and fingers crossed it goes ahead
Gayle (Wacky) and Glen (Chugger)

I spent about 10 days travelling around NZ and collecting the odd cache here and there, and would love to return for a mega event. If it came down to choosing between an event in Australia & one in NZ, then NZ would win hands down. Here's hoping that you get the event off the ground!

After talking it over with the family, we are now looking more like coming over in 2012 as our first big trip in ages. They preferred the idea of NZ over the au event.

We'll schedule it around any potential Mega, we'd love to visit the SI!!!
(We have family on the North Island who we'll get to go see too)

Datruk will be attending, If it is in October it would be even better as I could make both events. I would make it a caching, fishing, photograpghy and catch up 2 weeks.

My preference would certainly be to attend the NZ Mega than the Aussie one.

Cheers!

I think I've already said something, not sure with all the logs. Anyway - I would be delighted to attend a NZ MEGA. (in addition to the proposed AU one, which fortunately, is very close by)

I have been to NZ twice, for a week for volunteer work in Auckland/Rotorua in 2000, and my month long epic cycle from Auckland to Invercargill in 2004, during which I found 15 caches, and spent a lot of time touring the sights too, not just ride. I would be very keen on visiting NZ again, not only to see many of the sights again, but to also attend a MEGA and find 15+++ caches too. Hopefully with a family member...

<p>

Why do I get the feeling some are intent on turning all this into a AUS v NZ battle?.

The whole OZ committee supports all efforts NZ is putting into getting their first Mega event going.
The OZ committee hopes both are successfully run as mega events with at least 600 attending each.
We are happy to assist any committee set up in NZ and should ours be run before NZ we will be
more than happy to run a promotion at our Mega event.

Personally I hope both will run on separate dates so we can pool some resources for a trip to NZ.

There is no one telling or stating you must attend one or the either and I think it is an insult on both
AUS and NZ to try to turn this into a battle, it aint going to happen. Good luck to you on whatever
you decide, its your choice. We hope most will attend both.

Regards
The OZ Mega Committee
