We'd do our very best to attend - hopefully as a vendor too!

I guess that would depend on when the next Australian mega event is - as I'm not sure that there'd be much value in having two australasian mega events competing against one-another for participants. If they're 8 or 12 months apart, it wouldn't be so bad.GhostGums wrote:I hope the impending announcement of the next Australian mega event doesn't put off a NZ event, as I like many would be keen on the idea of one being in NZ.

As I mentioned in another thread, we could not afford to do both, even if they were 12 months apart we would have to choose one over the other, but we would be more interested in the one in NZ

I wasn't aware of the plan for another Aus when I proposed my plan for one in NZ - as long as ther two are far enough apart (sounds like the Aus one some way ahead in planning than the NZ one - so it might occur beforehand or we might even delay the NZ one a little to suit) then I'm sure both can occur and be successful.

If its Oz 2011 then I cannot see a problem with NZ 2012.
Just lock in 2012 for NZ so Oz doesn't claim it.
I would like to see some sort of Haka face off for the proposed date.

An excellent move to be looking at a Mega event in 2012 - I hope that it happens, and not least because I missed Wagga.
Totally agree that it needs to be either Auckland or Christchurch for a number of reasons including flights, accommodation, car rentals, travel times, etc. There are also very cheap flights available from Oz at times even below $100 but they can't be guaranteed
I spent a most enjoyable 3 weeks over there last year and can HIGHLY recommend the South Island and Christchurch. I didn't get to Auckland but suggest that Christchurch would be better for an event - easier to get around and MUCH better surrounds. People should have a great time even if they just stayed there for a few days.
So count me in as one (not just one - that is being numerist!!) lol

Count me in for 1. Love the SI, in fact I loved all of NZ. Would have no hesitation in heading back to Christchurch again.

And just to qualify my earlier will attend vote, I will attend both if there is one in Oz and one in NZ (as long as they aren't the same weekend)

Like Richary, I'd like to reiterate my intention to attend. But given the Australian one is now set for April 2012, will the NZ one be Oct 2012 or perhaps later? What are the numbers from NZ like?

I'm now deciding between October 2011 and October 2012!!
We currently have 300 or so who have indicated that they will attend - and I'm aware of a number from further abroad (the US and Europe) who are interested if its October 2012 - so October 2012 is the most likely outcome.
