I stumbled across this site, and thought I'm mention it, I haven't used it but since its related to Geocaching, other people might be interested...
Basically it looks like you just following a "virtual" course and get some icon/badge after every stage.

Virtual Orienteering
Re: Virtual Orienteering
This seems to be a cross between orienteering and geocaching - but with the most fun elements of each removed!
Orienteering involves reading the specially-prepared map, interpreting the terrain and working out the best way to get to the checkpoints. With a gps, this becomes often trivial.
Geocaching involves searching for a sometimes cleverly hidden "treasure" and writing your name in a log, possibly swapping some goodies and playing with trackables. The way this game is designed, all those physical elements are removed.
just my opinion, having done a reasonable amount of each.

Re: Virtual Orienteering
just one point in its favour, if the journey is your cuppa tea then this might be ok, it if the "track" has some good views etc...
but having something physically is always good from my POV.

Interesting concept, I'll maybe look into it when the Android client is released.
