It just seems odd, particularly on the back of the recent arrival in the US of the Open Caching Project, that Garmin, who would have to be aware of such things, would try to start up ANOTHER open, free, community driven cache listing site??? :-k

Hey, they're referring to our xml layout \:D/ \:D/
Open format for all.

I was talking with the .pl guys about the possibility of unifying our formats... seems they did, without us needing to do anything

That's extremely sweet.
With more and more sites adopting the open format, we're all in with a better chance of getting the GPS manufacturers to adopt the same open format.

It's now clear why Garmin haven't replied to my many emails RE: Adding GCA support to their units....... maybe they've already planned to adopt it  (says he in jest)

In looking at someone's now deleted hides I saw some ones from shutterspot. There's another I wasn't aware of that can be imported into here. Something I will have to look into to add to the different find options.

If the choice is between the open format and the Groundspeak namespaces, I would hope (expect) they go with the open format. Of course, they may also choose a Garmin specific namespace.

Sooooo, why then was it only up for just 3 hours and what the heck is going on?
Why would you create a site, have it up for only 3 hours then make it unusable and closed off if it doesn't work? #-o
