This looks like an iPhone log.
Groundspeak have certain issues with iPhones when the phone doesn't receive confirmation back that the log has been made, so of course the user continues to push the log it button until they get confirmation.
Trust me this is not the first time this has happened. There are hundreds of "duplicate" logs that come through for this particular bug.
The only real solution is for the cache owner to delete the spurious logs and lodge a fault ticket with Groundspeak to fix their iPhone app so this event is fixed.

It's odd that GC doesn't have something that tells you "you have already logged this cache as found on 6/10/10". How hard could that be? (speaking as a semi-literate computer luddite). Could you multiple log GCA caches? (accidentally of course)

As a result this cacher now has 7 finds although really only two. Obviously they are not doing this deliberately.

Well, we don't poke you in the eye and tell you that, no.

We do offer the ability for your to check which caches you have logged multiple times though.

So you could quickly run your eye down that and anything you think was wrong, you could check and see if you accidentally duplicated something.

yep. definatly an iPhone fail.

it happened to me yesterday, i tried to send a log, it said that it was unsuccessful. oh well, i'll give it five minutes, and try again.
nope, still unsuccessful.
Found another cache. Tried sending first log, before sending that log. Nope..yet again, unsuccessful.
Gave up, and went home to send it from phone (i..wrote quite a bit, for an iPhone!)...UNSUCCESSFUL AGAIN?
Went online to check it out...yeah, it sent it, four times in a row.

Change the submit style to "submit as field note" and you get the added benefit of being able to log the find on the correct day as well.

I don't mind emailing a cacher to let them know that their duplicate log has been deleted. At the same time I may ask them if they intend to embelish on their remaining "sent by mobile device" log as is the custom 8)

I usually get a response saying that they are new and thank me for the advice.

I guess in the case of GCA you'd have to watch out for movable and locationless caches which you can log multiple times legitimately.

I think this may be a problem with the latest update of the iPhone app. It got a few multiples posted to my caches at the weekend, and being in the city they are often found with iPhones.

Stupid stupid iphone update was doing this to me all weekend. Luckly we are only slow cachers as a couple of times I logged about 4 finds, and went back and deleted them.
There seems to be a problem with dropping Trackables as well. Hopefully they will fix the bug soon.

Maybe we need to go back to their suggestions page, and get enough people to vote for a button forbidding these automatic logs on our caches. Won't achieve anything but might stir things up a bit.

I want a checkbox forbidding automatic logging apps from posting a found on my cache.

It actually does, on the webpage for the cache it says: "You logged this as Found on Sunday, 10 October 2010". But there is nothing stopping you from logging it again, mainly because its a common page for all log types.

Maybe this iPhone bug would explain this then
Image

but then I can'timagine anyone pushing the button for several hours.

There is only one log on the cache however so it could be some other type of glitch.

I'd guess that the owner or logged have removed the duplicates.
