Re: GAFF

You can read a bit of crap about it here, http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/GAFF.

Re: GAFF
I use it sometimes... but only when it helps illustraite a point... if the thing is a 1/1 driveby, I dont bother saying GAFF1 as duh... you should be able to find it that easily! hehe
If I grab a really tricky cache no hint / no logs reading that Im pretty proud of, I'll gloat a little with a GAFF1 note as part of my log. Similarly if I had to PAF for what should have been a simple find I'll put a GAFF4 in the log so the owner and others can have a chuckle at my expense

Re: GAFF
It came about as a personal honesty system, when we realised that some cachers would read all the logs, look at the hint and even call a previous finder even before stepping out of the house and then writing in their log - "A nice easy find" We would subsequently go out and struggle big time and feel totally inadequate that we couldn't find a "nice easy find".
It is also a very useful personal reference when we look at our previous logs or when someone calls us for assistance. By looking at the GAFF rating we know immediately how easy or difficult it was for us.

Re: GAFF
Speaking of which I'm seeing a lot of GAFF-0 logs posted. That's actually (according to the Geowiki) when you happen to be somewhere (not actually out geocaching perhaps) and see something that might contain a cache and bingo! the way I read it.
What are the chances of that happening?
Anyway each to his own.

Some of those were mine when I thought it meant you used nothing but the co-ords (ie hadnt read the cache page)... I actually only have one GAFF0 where I found a multi before getting to the start point of it

I was actually looking for a location to place a cache when I stumbled across a puzzle cache with co-ordinates many miles away.
