My log on NinN actually did spill over to a second log in order to drop a trackable or somesuch and I had to edit it down. I never thought of making it into parts... Average verbosity of over 100 words is VERY impressive. Well done folks. All my short logs are on events, like "I'll be there". I don't tend to write anything too interesting or humorous although I do try :), but I try to tell a little of what went on...

Average of 62 words per log
Longest log of 591 words on Traditional The top ACT - Bimberi Wilderness by mtbikeroz
Shortest log of 1 words on Traditional Speedy by Roostaman (sorry Greg - I was being [not] funny)

"Invasions"" seem to dent the length of logs.

C@W, are you able to crunch the average for all cachers? Or would that just fry a server?

To keep it going:
Average of 90 words per log
Longest log of 553 words on Traditional Nowhere In Particular by The 2 Dogs
Shortest log of 11 words on Traditional You're Wronger by sommerich

I find I've increased my log length in recent times (apart from the recent holiday caches - logging on a phone is a pain in the ...) to talk more about the experience. I like to read older logs so I hope by writing more I can impart some enjoyment or insight. I have to say normally the shorter the log, the less enjoyable the cache which makes me wonder about the "TFTC cachers" - either they get nothing from the cache; they are logging a mountain of caches so don't want to waste too much time; or they are very slow typists!

Option 2 my friend.
There are some 2.5 million logs in the system and crunching that volume of data would bring the server to its knees.

Howdy... just wanted to let everyone know that I have created a new locationless cache inspired by this thread topic (and others like it). You can now claim finds for achieving certain verbosity scores. :D I thought it might help to movtivate people to put more effort into their logs.

Verbosity
Average of 78 words per log
Longest log of 267 words on [Unknown or Mystery] Puzzlemania #5 - Mystic Zip by muzza
Shortest log of 8 words on [Event] 2009 Cyber Flash Mob Event by Fuddley

Hey! who knew that I talked a lot? :)

I tend to do only a few caches in a day (if more than 1). That makes it a lot easier to wax lyrical.

Ive started using a template which is 60ish words long BEFORE I actually write about my experience... guess thats kinda cheating

However since the Nowra Invasion Im probably averaging 120+ because of it! \:D/ For Example: GC Cache Flip It

Just had a look at our stats:

Average of 59 words per log
Longest log of 540 words on Traditional Île Française Numéro 2 by geofreak
Shortest log of 8 words on Traditional Number 1 Red by LIVERPOOLRED

so we are 1 word/log off being able to log hookline's cache.

Our 59 average is over 1014 finds, so I guess we must have written about 59,826 words, so if we write (60 x 1015) - 59826 = 1,074 words for our next log, we can log the cache. Well, maybe not on the next find - but soon :)

Of course, if we logged the locationless cache with a 1,074 word log, by the time hookline checked the figures, we would be at 60 words.

Wow, that looks like a lot of fluff and wasted bandwidth to me! But whatever floats your boat :-k
