Regional Businesses to visit
Regional Businesses to visit
I dont know if this is appropriate on this site ...UMP please remove if not complying with rules.
When travelling on holiday we always like to use small regional businesses where we can. At the moment we are in Port Fairy and there are a couple of places that we found that are worth a mention for anyone to visit of coming this way.
1.Port fairy IGA...very friendly staff who can take a joke
2.Port fairy gardens caravan Park...huge caravan park with excellent facilities
3.Rebeccas cafe...goood coffee always a must have
4.Koroit irish Pub ....small pub friendly staff and the best Guiness pie
5.Izzy family restaurant really a great surprise .great pizza and extensive menu.friendly staff good prices.
6.caledonian Pub Port fairy...great steaks
I hope this helps anyone who may pass through.

No rules on commercialisation promotions here I dont think! Possibly more use in the VIC/SA threads but I agree, I like Port Fairy

UMP has no authority here. The mods on the other hand..
I like local lists like these. Personally when in a new area and I want a place to eat / have a coffee I go ask a local. They always know best.

As long as you're not pimping your own business, this sort of promotion is fine by me.

When out caching and if we stop for a nearby coffee / something to eat I like to comment on how good (or otherwise) it was.

I'll add some (shameless) promotion for a couple of local businesses...
If you're in Echuca and need a good coffee you can't beat BYL in Nish St. (No I don't own shares but I reckon they have almost the best coffee of any I've tried).
The deli a couple of doors down is also fantastic (Bite-Me Deli).
If you're out chasing Lockyness Monster at Lockington call in to the cafe just around the corner and about 60m north (Providore on Hopetoun). Just plain out good tucker and coffee and old fashioned country hospitality.
Waz.

Re: Regional Businesses to visit
I'm greatly in favour of supporting regional businesses that provide great service and goods. In my hides I refer to these where they exist. But I like the idea of town related info such as provided for Port Fairy. That way we can easily get the gen on a town we are visiting whether for caching or otherwise.
I haven't used the Search facility much so wonder if having the town name in the Subject header will help in searching? Or is it enough in the text body?

You could do a bookmark list of caches near good bakeries or coffee places!
