Geocaching Newsletter #3 ?

Oh boy, am I a glutten for punishment!
Ok, it's been 6 months since the last newsletter, and going by the trend (1!) it's a half yearly newsletter

I'd like to know:
a) who would be willing to contribute?
b) what parts of the newsletter do you like and don't like?
c) anything new you'd like to see added?

I'll edit it again, but only if I can get support in the form of contributions.

What sort of stuff would you like contributions to be about.
Same as the last (first?) couple or are you looking for something different.
Poetry, fiction, non-fiction?

Looking forward to it already! :D

Adelaide just had an event cache called Shankers Get-Together Dinner in which nearly every cacher in the city it seemed (and a couple from interstate) turned up, far more then obviously planned for given the size of the restaurant chosen

I'm happy to contribute. Sending me a reminder e-mail might help the process a bit though :).

I would love to contribute and I like writing.

I seem to have a couple of spare weeks up my sleve for some reason and if Mix is willing to take some pics I'd add some Red Ochre articles, profiles (for those game) and feature a couple of our better caches.

I'd also like to cover the Swamp Swampy event unless some one else has there hand up. The wife this morning didn't seem to object to much when I said I won't be here the weekend of the 16th.

Let me know what else I can do or the mag. Like I said, I like to write.

It would have the same basic format as the first two, with the same categories. i.e. News, gadget reviews, how-to articles, general caching articles, player profiles, event wrapups etc. Unless anyone can think of other sections to add?
I'd like to know what people liked and didn't like in the previous issues, so I can get an idea of what people like.

I would need any articles in *plain text* only (word or ascii), no formatted stuff please as I just have to unformat it anyway to match the rest of the newsletter.

No Poetry or fiction stuff, sorry, non-fictional geocaching related stuff only.

I like the first two, even though they were published before I was involved in geocaching.

I reckon if we can keep them up they will serve as an interesting record history in years to come.

Some ideas for content not necessarilly good or new:

- a guess at how geocaching could develop.
- a story or two about a teams quest for a particularly challenging cache
- musings from a beginner who has started since the last news letter.
- how to use a compass for geocaching fun & profit.
- perhaps some summaries of some particularly interesting / heated / controversial topics discussed on the forums

A State of the nation segment would be nice, with a bit of a rundwn of what's happening/upcoming in each state, what cool new caches/cachers have come to light etc..

Enjoyed reading the first 2

 Hmmm  - an anti-poet.

Will have to work on that. I now see cracks in the system. :D

the first two editions were a great intro and overview of the hobby for a newbie.

more than happy to draft an article for consideration, when's the deadline?

I'd love to see a feature ... "i!8: Get Smart ... the story behind the story". I've given George a nudge on this, but he may not want to put it in the newsletter, if anywhere. :)

No deadline, it "gets done when it gets done"
Although I usually send out a "last call" a few days before publication, i.e. after I've actually sat there looking at the thing for a month instead of actually doing something

That would of course be fantastic, everyone deserves to know about Get Smart. It has caching innovations which may not be seen again for some time, if ever. Although one must wonder if that would spoil the surprise for any future caches on a similar theme?
