I'm going Gninja and Zombie.
Gninja is done, just waiting for nicer weather to greenify the zombie.

Sydney people, my local Woolworths supermarket had a few. Try the home hardware isle. They were about $5.

I looked in the garden section and there was nothing. I'll look further, were they breakable types or plastic/fibreglass types?
Re: The Moving Cache Race for 2010/2011
Big time breakable! Typical garden gnome but fairly thin walled.blossom* wrote:I looked in the garden section and there was nothing. I'll look further, were they breakable types or plastic/fibreglass types?
There was some comments earlier in this thread about filling with plaster etc. Would probably be a good idea with these ones.

If you were a gnome and knew where the log book goes, you'd hide too, wouldn't you? No wonder they're a bit hard to get hold of at the moment.
I think we'll have to sneak up on them, or try bribery - or think of somewhere else to keep the log book.

I looked on eBay and found there were resin gnomes. If I can source one I will enter one of these. I thought the expanding gap filler was probably the best idea for strengthening a ceramic gnome assuming you could then carve out a film canister or some-such sized hole in it afterwards.Damo. wrote:Big time breakable! Be wary on ebay everyone! There's someone flogging gnomes for $50 that I can get for $5.95 locally. Make sure you check out the cheapcrap shops etc before you bid.

C@W, what would the rules be for a gnome that broke to an unrepairable state? Would he be disqualified? Or would you allow a replacement and, if so, to start from where?

I found some dwarves at my local Bunnings in Rutherford NSW, but they weren't for sale.
They told me to look in the garden section near all the ceramic pots and stuff.
and there they were...$4.95 each.
they have an uncomfortable smile because they know about that log book.

Good question. What do you think?blossom* wrote:C@W, what would the rules be for a gnome that broke to an unrepairable state? Would he be disqualified? Or would you allow a replacement and, if so, to start from where?

The "you break it, you fix it" rule? Running repairs could be assessed for originality and durability and the best awarded a prize?

There should always be a way to continue on.caughtatwork wrote:Good question. What do you think?blossom* wrote:C@W, what would the rules be for a gnome that broke to an unrepairable state? Would he be disqualified? Or would you allow a replacement and, if so, to start from where?
Bandages, glue, the whole lot in a Systema box.
What ever solution is the funniest.
Each subsequent finder could be contributing to a Frankenstein's monster.
The gnome must go on.

Got mine today, at Bunnings near Miranda Sydney, the Nursery section. Slim selection of $4.95 Snow White Dwarves, ceramic but seem solid enough. Will be filling mine though!

Gotta get me a Gnome Customisation Station. Funny thing is that none of the supermarkets/stores in Goolwa have those available.Frogglin wrote:They're just painted grey, and I'm about to start on them in the Customisation Gnome Station (aka, big ol cardboard box).
Have to keep up with the gnomeses. (where is that gnome smiley!)
