Woolies has small garden gnomes for $2. After the talk of gnomes as a possible container for the race these are cheap enough for a cache with a big enough hole underneath for a small container.
I've grabbed one. Even if we don't use them for the race I'm going to release him on a mission.
If we did clothing it'd have to be something small like a scarf or hat so it would fit in a small container and everyone could wear.

Garden gnomes would look out of place except in someone's front yard! Then again we could all place them in our own front yards and invite geocachers to visit!

Awesome! Just think of a muggle cemetery worker accidentally finding a zombie ninja gnome up a tree!

No zombies for me, it's a common joke in my family about my zombie phobia. I should never have sat up all night as a teenager watching zombie movies now I can't stand them.
Luckily I have Gnomtaro the silent gninja gnome who with his deadly axe will protect us all from the zombie menace that australian geocachers may release upon an unsuspecting muggle public.

This is sounding brilliant. Now, what do we call this moving "cache" race?
How about:
- Roamin' Gnomes
- A Gnome away from Home
Any other suggestions?
