Re: facebook and geocaching
I signed up for the dreaded facebook some months back as most of my "friends" were using it to keep up to date on motorbike rides and other joint activities. Not being on facebook meant I was usually in the dark about upcoming events.
After a couple of weeks of checking facebook religiously every night I lost a bit of interest and started missing a couple of days at a time. Didn't take long to get very sick of the regular trivial postings from others along the lines of "long day. going 2 bed". I ask, why would anyone bother even posting such absolute crap
Facebook might be one of the most important "tools" in the armoury of teenagers, but for me its just another distraction from the real purpose of life...CACHING

It's a pity.PrincessDiala wrote:There is already a Geocaching Australia facebook page -its not very active though:

Perhaps people are less likely to get chatty on there using their real names (maybe?). In a lot of instances if you are more anonymous you tend to engage in online discussions more (from my experiences anyhow).
I have an account, but I haven't been on there for quite a while, too noisy for me. If only they kept lite.facebook.com going, that was bearable

Re: facebook and geocaching
I can't even comprehend most of the rubbish people write on Facebook and there's so much trivial rot.
"Yurt has joined Geocachers Who Write Long Interesting Online Logs"... Yurt likes this.
Yurt doesn't like "People Who Never Use The Shift Key".
