Ahhh... memory lane! Even in the Good Old Days (of less than a decade ago!), the more elaborate megacaches were only found by a subset of the caching community and you had a pretty good idea who the first two or three finders would be, and the long gaps between smileys that would appear after the first ten or so finds.
There were also vociferous opponents of the elaborate puzzles and multis, bemoaning the loss of the 'pure' big-box-after-a-nice-bushwalk trad almost from the beginning! (I'm thinking mainly of Snifter from The 2 Dogs, but there were others.)
We were the ones who defused the MacGuyver "bomb" with, in typical nail-biting style, about 5 seconds left on the countdown! We'd rushed to where the code was meant to be, only to read something like "You didn't really expect me to tell you how to defuse the bomb, did you?" and rushed back. MBL suggested opening the box and PBL had the Swiss Army Knife in his pocket (as always). All we needed was the tense music and it would've been prime-time TV!

Re: Geocaching Video Presentation - Early History & Megacaches
Finally got around to watching the video. Thank you EcoDave for a very interesting presentation. Did not realise that Get Smart was so involved. You certainly don't see caches like those any more.
You mentioned Geopup. Some of the old-timers may remember Geopup (possibly Australia's first and leading geocaching dog). After a very long (18 or 19 years) and adventurous life Geopup went to sleep some time ago.

Great presentation Dave. Snifter and I enjoyed it very much and it brought back so many great memories.
