Someone has posted a find on a cache that we made that was not destined to last very long I deactiavted it in January and now it has a find. I shop at the shops nearby every week and havent seen hide nor hare of the cache since October over 6 months....
Do I delete the find or not worry about it.

How about an email to the finder? Give them a couple of days to respond and then decide what to do.
Re: How can this be found
Might be someone who found it with another cacher when it was active and now they are logging under their own name.

A link to the cache would be nice so we can gain some perspective and context.

If I am sure that the cache is gone I just delete those logs. It's up to the finder to provide any evidence that he has really signed the logbook.

Could be a log against the wrong cache.
I'd send an email asking for clarification and then action depending on the response.

Re: How can this be found
Having been the LTF on the cache I must admit that I was surprised to see it archived.
It is possible that even the CO wold not be able to find it again. I have had that problem with my own caches (including an ammo can) which was subsequently found by other cachers and are still active.
I agree that an email to the finder is the best option. They may be able to let you know where they found it.

Re: How can this be found
Just in the last week we have found 2 caches, both with no finds for over 12 months, and one with 2 SBA's on it. Both are currently disabled, but both are in ok condition or better, and both are where they are supposed to be.

Re: How can this be found
I've 'discovered' an archived cache that may be there still. The last log from the owner said they had replaced it but this was well after the archive date so no one has logged a find since then and it wasn't re-enabled. I'm tempted to go and look for it even though the last log was almost three years ago!

Hi All
THanks for the comments, today I went back to the site and searched high and low , this iparticular cache is a micro that was hidden inside a fake rock, it has truely gone including the fake rock !!. I will wait a few days to see if the finder responds to the request for more information and then decide what to do.
