Then agin, having no apparent arms doesn't seem to make one any safer after the fact (as opposed to the "fact").

He's now an UnArmed Bandit?

He can now get a job as a Poker Machine?

At least he didn't chop his arm off and then 2mins later the rescuers showed up...

On the news at lunchtime they interviewed the hiker..
 He said the=at his knife was pretty blunt at first didn't even break the skin. And he waited five days before making the decision to cut his arm off that would be a long five days
