I have about four spare invites for gmail see gmail.google.com. It is the new trial for googles web based email. Has 1G of storage and works in a really different way to most email. It is invite only at the moment. I have about four spare invites, though you get more fairly regularly.

I picked up one of hardunits's first offering, but I don't have any to give away. It seems from the posts that (at least some of) the new accounts have been given four invites.

How do you know whether you have some to give away? I assume that you receive an email (or should that be 'gmail'

) from the mail admin?

When I went into gmail for the first time, on the left hand side of the screen (under Inbox, etc) there is a link saying something about sending invitations to 6 friends. You click, put in a first name, last name, email address, and note and away it goes.

I thought it would be something like that. I had already had a good sniff around, to no avail. Of course, if it only appears on your first visit, then I might've missed it. The only links I have at present are:

Starred 
Sent Mail 
All Mail 
Spam 
Trash

No worries. I don't need invites to pass around; I was just curious about why some people seem to have them when I don't.

Very odd - when I log in it's still there a little below trash. It stays there but just counts down how many invites I have each time I send one to someone. Now I feel very special!
