Flooded caches

There is a cache in this picture. Was maybe. It was at the base of the street pole. The flood is the Cooper's Creek at Innaminka. Flood waters were still rising yesterday.

It's been amazing to walk through some of the bushland valleys in Sydney recently and see how high the water got in the big storms of a few weeks back. The debris in the trees is well over 5 metres above creek level in some places. I'd say the odd cache has been washed away going by some of the things we found. Spotted a Toohey's Draught can (it hasn't been called that for about 15 years) and then a Power's Bitter can (probably been gone just as long) and then a soft drink can with a pop-top lid - they went out about 1983 didn't they? So it looks like the water has released some long trapped rubbish which makes me fear for some caches. One I know is gone but I think it was gone before the last flood going by the logs. In fact the log it was hidden in seems to have floated away.

It would be awesome to see these creeks in flood but SOOO dangerous as you can't really get near them except on a road bridge. The flooding also only lasts a few hours unlike in the photo above which may go on for weeks.

I can't quite make out the wording, but at least it doesn't look as if the road is closed - no red signs.

It needs to be a good snorkel. Water level over the Innaminka causeway is reported to be 10.1m!!

Yes the full image unshrunk by gc.com does say road open to 4WD.

Well, I guess if you had a diesel, and instead of using air just ran an oxygen tank into the air intake instead you could go underwater.

I guess I'll just make a few minor adjustments, and change the cache into a Z style puzzle.

The new description could look something like this:
There was a cache originally placed under the rocks at the base of the sign in the picture at the given coordinates. It has since been washed downstream by flooding torrents.
Your task is to use weather observations, the speed of flow and any other source of Info you can get to track down this cache. It was a film canister, so would have floated

Additional Hints
Start somewhere in the middle of lake Eyre and work back from there

At Innamincka a level of 10.7 metres was reported for 9 am, 19th March.
