Hi, Simon here. Got introduced to geocaching by a buddy; we are both keen hunters and shooters and would love something inanimate to track down when the game is scarce Loving it already.

Welcome! Just make sure you use the "Hunting" attribute if you place caches near the local pig shoot spots hehe

Heh, thanks for the tipoff Zalgariath. I'm still new and far from confident enough to place my first caches. Should add though that 'hunting'...more like poaching occurs in many areas where legit hunters aren't allowed to go. Our licences and firearms are at stake if we endanger the public, while poachers have a lot less to lose and are probably unleashing hunting dogs and using unregistered guns in many places where geocachers do not expect shooters to be around.
Conversely, several hunting spots have been picked clean of pest animals and wouldn't really contain shooters (unless they are also geocachers *hint* *hint*. If I do set up a cache,I'd probably use the Hunting attribute only if there is a chance of hunters actually being there; eg. duck season at certain lakes and waterways.

Hi all
Sydney sider here, friend told me about geocaching and I'm intrigued. I haven't actually found anything yet, but I'm planning my first hunt, so fingers crossed I manage to find something.

Welcome aboard, and hope you find it suitably addictive. We have an event on at Top Ryde shopping centre on the 26th if you would like to meet some other like minded locals!Cadmean Vixen wrote:Hi all

Another from Canberra
Heard about this from a mate a few months ago and finally got into it late last month - lets just say the family is addicted - probably not as much as me but we all had fun on our holiday to SA and VIC discovering caches.
An Oregon 550 should be arriving tomorrow which will mean no more huge phone drains and we hope to have our own caches out soon.
Also designed our own family path-tag (see my avatar) which will be made up soon as well.

That depends... caching or actual?! If it's caching... you are in the right spot, for real business the first thing you need is an ABN http://australia.gov.au/service/abn-app ... ess-numberTomeganawMulder wrote:Hello everyone

G'day.. newbie.. Andrew from Adl.
no real idea about geocaching. Bought a Garmin Montana a few months back to go on the m'bike ( replacing an old GPS) and it had geocaching stuff on it so googled it. Yep.. looks fun. I get about here n there, doubt I'll interact much but reckon when I get the idea I might drop a cache or two in an interesting spot(s).

Hi everyone!!
I am another Janine!! Friends call me nene, JJ, skuzzy. Guess a rose by any other name, huh!!
Went to school in ballarat a million years ago (shout out to any loreto or BQGS) and return frequently when I am in Victoria. Often in NT (Darwin and Alice), WA (Perth, Broome, karratha), Qld (bris-1770 and thru to Gladstone), SA (gawler-clare-st.vincent gulf ) and all over Vic like a mad woman's breakfast (bendigo, balt, yea, cape patterson, hamilton, Berwick, warrnambool) for work or play but was really over not "doing" anything just for fun. Hence, after coming here to visit, I decided I might hang around for a while and see what mischief I can get up to..... Oh sorry, I meant fun....
Am so new I don't even own a thingumyjig but I have it on good authority I will invest in a quality one when I come home from sea. Oh yeah, forgot to mention; I am a seafarer so am often away and without internet....wonder if I can cache the sea? (to infinity and beyond..........!!!)
Now, do decide on which whoziwhasists to buy......!!!
