Duke2005
Greg and Juliet, and dont forget Duke our geopet
Blaxland NSW, found our first cache last sunday, I have tue off so hope to find another one, hey at least it keeps me off the net for a few hours
Bought a garmin gecko, seems to work fine, I have plenty of paper maps so I guess I should read them first rather than just saying 'Ill find it' and finding I took the longest route!

I have been playing for 2 months now & as there is not many caches in and around Wagga Wagga, it takes some travelling to get to them. And I have done some climbing that I would never have thought I would do until I started looking for little plastic boxes in the bush. The achievement is a great reward.
There is just 3 other players/teams here now, but with some prodding we should be able to get it going a bit more soon. Then there will be plenty to make it more worthwhile for other cachers to drop in on their way through. I have started a series of caches and placed 2 already.
I have taken some of the grandkids out & of course they love it too. The wife is not actively playing, but if I take her to an easy drive-by, she will get out and have a look too.

That wouldn't have been Kengal, by any chance? Really enjoyed that one, one of my favourite spots from caching. Was amazed to get better mobile phone reception on the top of the hill (in the middle of nowhere) than I had at my accomodation in town .

Welcome to the sport!!

Hi my name is Martin, Live in Berowra on the outskirts of Sydney, I'm a Mechanic for Mercedes Benz, enjoy most things out door, my main hobby is photography which takes me out into the bushland hiking ect,
I got a GPS years and years ago a Magellan 3000XL and will be getting a new GPS next week for my 21st birthday, the Magellan Explorist 600 which should be very good.
and seeing as though i like the outdoors and often run off into the bush to take photo's why not find or place a few caches whilst i'm there

Introduction
Mr Walker here. Had a look at this site about a year ago, but since then have been using the American version. I am impressed with the present site and forums. This is my first go at this forum. I have been caching for about a year after following it for some time. Because I live in a small country town, there were not many caches or cachers nearby and my number of finds has grown only slowly. However I have hidden about a dozen, which has helped increase the number of local cachers and now there is a self sustaining community of us. Last year I had a triple Bypass and this year we lost our home of 25 years and all its contents in the January bushfires. However life goes on, and I am presently in the middle of 6 months long service leave from the Education dept. Hope to do a caching trip to Yorke Peninsula and Adelaide in the near future. My tag comes partly from the need to walk a lot after the heart op. and our habit of walking many of the local beaches looking for shells and other interesting stuff. Mainly however it is dedicated to The Phantom's alter ego, who seems to embody many of the qualities needed by a cacher. I would like to create some caches just for the Australian site, and hope to do so soon.
Hi, this is Linda of The Happy Wanderers which usually consists of Linda & Lesley and various other friends and family willing on the day. Our introduction to caching was when a relative visited from the US with his GPSr. Since then we've thoroughly enjoyed adventuring and seeing many places in and around our home town. We constantly surprise ourselves with willingness to just plunge through bushes and up steep, unfriendly slopes and other terrain that never would have been considered in the past! At the moment we are planning to hide our first cache (about time). We recently reached 50 finds and thought it might be time to introduce ourselves!

Hi The Master Distillers here,
We consist of Scott and Bron and have been caching for.......... what seems like forever but is only since October last year. We got into caching after scott thought he couldn't live without a GPS we're both throughly hooked now and Bron has her own GPS now too. Never been to this site before but imgettingannoyed pointed it out too us.

Suppose i better add my part to this on-going story.

I've been caching now since the start of the year, and have managed to get finds in a couple of different states, included some over on the eyre peneninsula. So far i'm just over the 220 find mark

I work in IT for a state government health agency, so i get to travel the around a fair bit from mt gambier to pt lincoln/cummins. Some of my larger caching runs have been with the posspet boys, who is my uncle, and i've also spent a month out in the country areas with a fellow workmate who has decided to join in on the game as well, so some caching runs are also with team nibbler.

Started off on my first 8 months with a yellow e-trex, but have just recently upgraded to a 60C with city navigator v6 on it.

A recent comment from team nibbler came along the lines of; "You wouldnt want work to get in the way of caching now would you?" after i had killed off a couple of hours of flexi time and completed half a dozen or so caches in the middle of the day

G'day all, I'm edmil, I found my first cache 29/5/2005 and all I can say is I'm hooked. I've found just over 240 caches in the last couple of months, nah I don't think it's an obsession yet. I have alway been active out doors; ride Mtb, also Kawasaki KLR 650 (on and off road). Enjoy photography, have tried my hand at fly fishing, but goodness those little critters are hard to catch, mmm so are the fish. I work for the commonwealth government in the customer research and change management field; specialising in IT. I also have a background in dance, mainly ballroom, rock 'n' roll and Jazz, though I also dabbled in classical for a few years - not sure if this was to improve my balance and style or whether the male/ female ratio was just so damn attractive in this discipline. I turned professional a number of years ago and have danced and taught professionally. Caching has allowed me to explore areas that I would not have otherwise explored. I have found so many small parks and creeks within 10kms of home that I wouldnn't have known existed. I initially bought the GPS to use on my motor bike as I rode through Birdsville, dimantina last year and thought one would be helpful. Went looking for some softeware updates and came across Geocaching. The rest is history.
Ok Ok I know I'm not anywhere near Australia, not even on the same side of the globe, but from Sturbridge, Massachusetts USA- but I did send a WJTB over near you to the South Isle of NZ. I know its not Au but it is close and you know it will eventually make its way to you- if not let me know and I'll send one over to you. While the WJTB thing is a touchy subject here in the states with all the hoarding I am one who believes that they should be shared, after all everyone should have the chance to grab one at least to get the icon out of the way.
Why am I posting here and introducing myself- I am asking for help from down under to vote for my entry in the contest. I could use a new GPS and hope that my request is answered by a few friends from down under.

Hi everyone, Lt Ketch here, Lt being a sad abbreviation for Lieutenant, no I have nothing to do with any military organisations, its just a nerdy reference to a Star Wars character I have used on the net since the mid 90's.
Stumbled across GC'ing a couple of weeks ago when it was part of a story on a TV show my wife was watching (think it may have been "Law and Order"?), thought to myself, gee wonder if that's real! An easy find on the web, not hidden very well at all and certainly no muggles in the proximity . By the end of the night (to be truthful it was probably into the early morning) had read the "What Should I Buy As My First GPS for GC'ing" articles floating around on different web sites and taken note of what people were saying in forums such as this! within 24 hours had purchased an eTrex Legend and within 48 had my first GC find in hand!
It was then I realised I would have to explain to my wife where the money had gone, why I had bought this thing that looked like a phone but did not make a call and why I would be searching for little hidden boxes in out of the way places, just to write my name in a book I will probably never see again, along with other people who I don't know!!!! Thankfully she believed my "but its a family thing we can all do" line!
As I live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and travel to work situated in the outer east along an arterial road their are plenty of GC's to be found for a new GC'er along the way, I now have a reason to leave early. But I did discouver the other day that Long Grass, wet ground, suit pants and good shoes do not necessarily make a good mix...but I did find the GC and thats the main thing!
Hope to come across some of you soon in my searches and if im not late for work to also say hello!

Hello all
I know that I am not exactly new to this, but I haven't properly introduced myself.

For those of you that don't know me I am based out of Canberra, but currently I am overseas (not for much longer). I was introduced to the sport by sam (cached) from SA, and have been falling steadily behind her stats ever since.

I started out as a family group caching, but not to long ago my son decided I was doing to many caches without him, so he got his own caching name (Ash-Dash). My most recent flurry of activity was a 12 day holiday in Brugge, Belgium where I netted 42 caches (not to bad since 3 in every 4 is a multi ranging from 2-6 km long) on foot most of the time.

I am planning to spend a bit more time in the forums, so I will chat to you all later.
