Chinese characters in the cache page

Post by Team GraMon » 27 December 09 7:21 pm

This seems to only be in the first part where you see the intro to the cache.

Does not seem to effect the the description part.

Does every one see the chinese characters? or is it both our browsers playing up?

I have seen the chinese & OTHER unrecogniseable characters appear several times in the listings, but they are not there the next day or gone in a few days. No pattern, just random caches, times, and have seen it at the beginning and end of the description.
Haven't seen any for a year or so now.

I remember when I was trying to put a picture on a cache page so on the geocaching.com site.

So I tried to get the pictures on with the geocaching.com.au site and went to the geocaching.com. site and those funny symbols came up.

It's a known bug at GC.com where there is a conversion issue from UTF-8 to whatever they are storing in their database.

There's nothing you can do about it I'm afraid, it's all at their end to fix.
