Yep. If they're not registered to play the game they can move the cache and they go into a pool to win a prize/. As they're registered at GCA (in order to log their move), I'll send them an email when they win indicating that they won. So this is a chance for people who don't want to hide a cache but still enjoy finding and moving them to join in the fun.Coffee and Cache wrote:Thanks caughtatwork. Our cache is ready to go now. Perhaps that button should say "Add" or something similar, instead of "Create"?caughtatwork wrote:The waypoint ID is the cache ID. e.g. GA1234
That links the game back to GCA to get the data.
BTW - Are the 5 prizes for "random cachers who move a game piece", available to geocachers who are not registered to play the game? I image the caches may be found by non-players occasionally, perhaps even during the game.

Re: Moveable Cache Race
A late entry but Hunter/Finder is keen to join in. Planning has started but where to place the container to get a good head start is the problem.
I've found and moved one other cache before (Geo-Gnome) and that was entertaining trying to locate the hiding place before it was moved on if you know what I mean.

Re: Moveable Cache Race
You don't get any head starts around here
If I were you, I'd put it somewhere that's really, really hard to get to and in a really sneaky hiding spot to make it incredibly difficult to find
Then I might have a better chance of winning - mine's really easy to get to and really easy to find. So everyone's going to go for mine first

Your cache will be disqualified because it was published before 1-Dec-2009.
To avoid that, I'm going to set it to future publish on 1-Dec-2009.
Be not surprised when that happens.

Re: Moveable Cache Race
Haven't been following this so apologies if this has been said somewhere and I missed it (speed reading) but what do you have to put in such a cache? The normal minimum requirements like log and pencil plus GC notice I guess. What about swaps? Should there be a common thread to them in all the moveables?
I may get around to it but I know time is running out.

Re: Moveable Cache Race
You need to put in a GA notice! Becasue it can only be logged on GA (and GC don't allow movable caches these days)
But apart from that, you can put in whatever you like for swaps. The only rule is that it needs to be size Small or more. And you need to put the "publish" log with a date of 1/12/2009 so it doesn't publish until then. And C@W has advised that you can publish your cache a bit late and still enter it in the game - you just lose a little bit of opportunity.
Go for it Yurt

Re: Moveable Cache Race
Correct. You don't need swaps, but I always include a few small things.
A stash note is always a good thing.

My moveable cache is in place and hopefully I got everything right with the listing/publishing
The majority of Tassie cachers are GCA addicts and this little island might just whip the big islands butt
Mrs red tag ....(Mr red tag wouldnt say that )

Go here http://www.cachinggames.com/mcr/cachecreate.php and stick in your GAnnnn code to enter the race.
Great to see so many new caches coming through. This will be a hoot I hope.

Re: Moveable Cache Race
I took my waypoint reading this evening, I'll too have a cache by the 1st of Dec.
I don't expect I'll go that far though....
But planning on moving one when we go on our hols ... If I can hopefully find one...
