Count me in too!

Maybe an owner can find and move it but that is not counted in the final distance tally? Or would this be too hard to achieve? That way if it is stuck in the middle of nowhere an owner can go out and move it a little closer to where it might get some action.

Btw, i've probably got a coin to donate to the cause. I think i have a spare NT 2009 coin here which i reccon would suit the competition nicely. If not the NT one i know i have a few other types here awaiting activation.

Call me slack if you must, but if I just grab the .kml file for the cache, everything else it calculated automagically. If there are owner movements in there, I need to edit them out. So maybe the owner can "encourage" a "friend" to move it closer to the action.

Of course, that's a strategy. Move someone cache 100km into the bush. Yes, that racks up 100km in distance, but from then on, it may get found less. Hmmmmmm :-"

Unless they have a "friend" who moves it back and then it's 200km as a result of your actions. Hmmmm. \:D/

C'mon and join the fun.
You have about 1 month to prepare and hide your cache.
It must be small or larger.

You can set your cache to be automatically published on 1 December 2009
When you make up your cache listing set the hidden date as 1/12/2009
Then log your cache and leave a "Published" log on the cache with a date of 1/12/2009
On 1-Dec-2009 GCA will automatically publish your cache.

You can NOT publish your cache before the game starts.

5 prizes, one each of a new GCA Pathtag (see the rules on the site).

Any bugs, please let me know.

mm, I've never done a moving cache before. So is it allowed to move the cache to the same location as an existing GC one? (or GCA one for that matter). Or do you have to find a free spot to move it to? And then I guess you publish the co-ords in your log.

http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Moveable_cache should help.

You find the cache.
You log a find.
You hide it (anywhere).
You take a note of the co-ords where you hid it.
You log a "move" against the cache and insert the co-ords of where you hid it.
Enter a hint to make it easier for the next finder.
That's pretty much it.

We're new at this movable cache thing. We'd like to play, but I have a question:

What is the incentive for cachers to want to move other cacher's caches? (Gee, I'm glad I didn't have to say THAT out loud!) The prizes seem to refer only to the cachers who PLACE caches, and not to cachers MOVING caches around.

Am I getting it all wrong, or should there, perhaps, be a prize for the cacher who moves the most caches, or who moves caches the furthest distance?

Do we prefix the the cache with something like "Moving Cache Race - MyCache Name" so we all know which cache is which?

I really like Black Bunny's idea of a prize for some of the cache movers =D>

I'm keen to place a cache and play the game, well VERY keen actually :D But, as well, it would be GREAT to add another prize category for the person who did the most moves for the game caches.

And I also like the idea of the Prefix for the name so mine will be "Moving Cache Race - Blossom*s cache"

I didn't include a prize for the finder who moves the most game caches for the following reason. Let's say in Melbourne there was only game cache but in Sydney there were 4. There is no hope for anyone in Melbourne to win that prize. It just seemed unfair to certain regions.

I included one prize for "A random cacher who has moved a cache in the game period". I'll give this some thought and may increase the number of prizes for those who move caches, but they will be random rather than based on the number of moves, but it may be the more you move caches, the more times your name goes into the hat to be drawn out.

So, do we have to mention anything in the cache description regarding the race? :-k

I have a few questions...

1. Do we have to add a prefix (e.g Moveable Cache Race-Whatever the name of the cache is)
2. How do you set it on a selected date (For the 1st Dec)

Can't wait till it starts but will be interested if my cache is even found as not many people around my area (Emerald Qld-Central Highlands Region) find caches on GCA.

Thanks,
Camstal
