No, under no circumstances are they acceptable. They are too thin, they leak, the crack after exposure to the elements. They're crap.

I understand you're a young fella and I'm happy to hear that you wouldn't use them. Even though there are a lot of plastic containers about resist the urge to make a cache out of anything that comes by. They fail in the field and everything gets wet/ mouldy and spoilt. Then you have more maintenance to perform as they start to fail.

Hi stringy,

As C@W mentioned, there aren't very sturdy for the outdoor environment. You can use any container you prefer, however consider using a container that was originally designed for reuse. An icecream container is designed to be cheap (not a bad thing) however they weren't designed to be reused for icecream.

Look around the pantry, shopping centre, army disposals etc and think about containers that were designed to be reused. They tend to work the best.

As always, there are some exceptions to the rule. :-$ :P

Cache note, bring your own crowbar, grinder or locksmith.

Check out the Google sat image for "Think Big" by BFE GC1KKY2. Cache is readily visible! :P
