How many DNFs have you had?

Post by Yurt » 07 August 09 5:29 pm

In the spirit of the How Many FTFs thread but at the other end of the emotional spectrum...

As a relative newbie I can say 11 with 105 found.
Of these we have been back and found 5.
Two of the remainder may have been muggled (ie 3 DNFs in a row and not found since we looked).
One more is still doubtful, hasn't been found or not found since but wasn't where owner said.
One hasn't been found or not found for 12 months but we may have missed it.
Two more are extraordinarily good hides beyond our ability at present with many DNFs for others as well.

It's nice to go back and clean them up where possible. Not that they get stricken from the record.

So what have you got? Or haven't you got?

I've been back to a lot, not all and a big number were MIA so have been archived.

Still a couple that are bugging me though

I've had 11 DNF's with 81 finds. Of theses we've gone back and found 4, Two have been archived, One hasn't been found, with many DNF's for over a year, Two was just to good a hide, One were the area had been closed of due to work, and one were the co-ords were off.

52 DNFs from 884 finds, some of which we went back to and found, others we will try again when next in the area where they are, after a DNF we usually have at least a couple more tries before giving up on them. Most DNFs go onto the watch list to see if it is just us or if others are having trouble too.

Even thought the Wiki has me listed as 59, that's way out of date.

I'm one away from a double century!

I have a great percentage. Something like 110 dnfs to 653 finds. 16% or thereabouts!

There is no shame on logging a DNF.

I think my caching partners from yesterday would dispute that.

If I'd brought up my 200th while they were going for 500, 800 and 2250 finds, I would have been subjected to the walk of shame on the return trip - all 12+ kms of it.

Well I'm glad you found it then. But those big walks are not really done for the numbers are they  Just the special numbers

PS - Can anyone tell me why i cannot get quote to work since the changes to the GCA site?

Do you have BBCode disabled? Check under your user control panel.
Board preferences > edit posting defaults (or something like that.) Maybe this link will work for you; http://forum.geocaching.com.au/ucp.php? ... &mode=post

As for the DNFs. Looks like I'm number two on find to DNF ratio.
