Re: How many DNFs have you had?
62 DNFs on 55 caches (715 finds)
I subsequently found 34 of those caches and 8 have been archived. 13 remain unfound (ACT 3, NSW 5, NT 1, QLD 1, TAS 2) - 4 of which I've had at least two goes at!

What I find extremely annoying is to have a DNF where you'd swear it must be gone but then someone comes along and finds it! What's worse is when there are several DNFs in a row on it and then someone finds it. I'm sure someone is moving these things around just to frustrate us!
I can only think there are times when the satellites and the GPSrs aren't talking to each other!

Far to many. I was only looking at this a couple of days ago & comparing myself to Maccamob. If I ever achieve their number of finds I will also have around 2000 DNFs. I was one of those kids who couldn't find his shoes despite them being under the bed. I only spend 5 to 10 minutes looking then move on. Best I've ever achieved was 11 DNFs in a day. I even had a DNF on a Locationless cache today (Bundys Lonely Graves).

If I'd brought up my 200th while they were going for 500, 800 and 2250 finds, I would have been subjected to the walk of shame on the return trip - all 12+ kms of it.
We recently walked away from a milestone with a DNF for 4 cachers, 3000, 2700, 2100 and ~800. I had no issues with it at all...
I too have been caught by that, one soon learns not to make sweeping statements. Nothing is more certain than as soon as you say "the cache is definitely not there" someone will come along and make an easy find!Yurt wrote:What I find extremely annoying is to have a DNF where you'd swear it must be gone but then someone comes along and finds it! Phew. I was worried I'd be number one after viewing the wiki record page.Damo. wrote:As for the DNFs. Looks like I'm number two on find to DNF ratio.
Freddo is long gone from that one now
I make the podium for SA though.
Cheers

An old saying: "Ain't no shame in a DNF"
Re: How many DNFs have you had?
I actually get more frustrated as an owner when people don't post DNFs. I hate getting emails asking me to check if a cache is there when no one has actually posted a DNF! If people don't log DNFs then don't expect a cache inspection.CraigRat wrote:An old saying: "Ain't no shame in a DNF"
I also don't like it when someone posts along the lines of, "took three attempts to find this one..." and yet has never logged a DNF. Some people seem awfully ashamed off themselves!

Me too !!traineediplomat wrote:I better head out there and not find some more!
I felt sure I'd be on such an esteemed list given that I always post my DNF's (no matter how embarrassing)
Re: How many DNFs have you had?
Well your problem there is that it's a find/dnf ratio list and you have found too many!If wrote:Me too !!traineediplomat wrote:I better head out there and not find some more!

This is the new graph at GCA.
http://geocaching.com.au/stats/cachers/ ... _not_finds
It only shows AU rather than AU and NZ and anywhere else
Or pick your state and see how much better you are than everyone else.

My my my - my ratio is sliping.
I'll really have to get into not finding a few more. Maybe I should register all those unsolved puzzle caches, given my cracking pace with puzzles there are hundreds I'll never find
