Victorian Cache Map (big image)

Post by teamkittens » 27 July 04 6:07 pm

Just something I whipped up a little while ago to get a general idea of where all the Vic caches are.

Maybe people from other states can do the same and we can stich them all up in some uber aussie cache location image... :)

(The map image is from MODIS btw. I tend to use it as my index map.)
Love it!
Makes me think the next holiday should be in Victoria. Try some of Maccamobs caches in their home territory!
:P

Great map. Gives me some caches to aim for when I come over in November. Where do you keep the updated version? Is there something similar for NSW and ACT? Plan on doing a loop from Sydney down the coast to Melbourne and back to Sydney via Canberra via some caching along the way.

I tend to not update it much, however just done so now to the above image so its now current. (If you're not seeing "The Ragged...." partially obscured by "Tinker Tailer Soldier Settler near the west middle hit refresh).
I can update it again on request when people want but dont have a nice way to do it automagically so it has to be done manually.

Hmm as an aside I think 'No Witch' should win the award for the loneliest cache in the state. :)

I had to use a program called ECW Spy to get the data I needed to calibrate the map.

Datum: GDA 94
Point 1: TLX: 8s 29.8962 TLY: 108e 43.6987
Point 2: BRX: 44s 21.5568 BRY: 157e 10.6905

TL= top left
BR=bottom right

Image Size X: 17442 pixels
Image Size Y: 12910 pixels

Use the image size for the placement of the second point. The first point is just
X: 1
Y: 1
