If it were one of my caches I would say no. The Guidelines are very clear, no sign, no smiley.Bewilderbeest wrote:Okay, so here's a question. Given the physical issues with signing the log, in the case of nano caches is it acceptable to claim a find, perhaps by taking a photo of youself at GX with the cache and GPS, instead of signing the log?

IF I found a nano of yours,
and the log was totally full,
or the log was mush,
AND I posted you a pic of me at GZ holding the cache as proof;
Would you really delete my log?
What other aternatives are there?

Obviously, you found the cache, so you steal it, make your online log as a find, then the next person can't find it so they have a DNF and the owner can NEVER know that you didn't sign the log as they can't find the cache either.
Win, win, win.
Win, win, win.

Would NEVER happen with me.caughtatwork wrote:Obviously, you found the cache, so you steal it, make your online log as a find, then the next person can't find it so they have a DNF and the owner can NEVER know that you didn't sign the log as they can't find the cache either.

BUT if I did steal it, again it proves that I found it and should get a smilie.
All hypothetical of course

1. Replace the log and sign it.homedg wrote:What other aternatives are there?
2. Post a needs maintenance log, wait for the owner to replace it, then come back and sign it.

Come back for a nano that you have already found - not this little black duck.Team Rubik wrote:1. Replace the log and sign it.homedg wrote:What other aternatives are there?

I go to places for the location. Only a few nanos ever achieve that level.

Even for a Micro I can chuck a bit of paper in there to sign if i have nothing suitable; But a NANO? Who carries spare Nano logs around with them?Team Rubik wrote:1. Replace the log and sign it.homedg wrote:What other aternatives are there?

If it was you I'd bang on that delete key in a heartbeat!homedg wrote: C'mon BM&S,

No, in all seriousness I'd probably allow the log but if you just took a picture because you were too lazy to open the cache then I'd delete it.
In my young and generous days I think I even allowed someone to log a find because they were at a GZ of a cache but it had been muggled and it was a 5 terrain cache. So my thoughts have changed over time but hey we signed all the nanos on our Adelaide record attempt even with my fat fingers, so I think most people should be able to stop for 5 and sign the log.
All that said I really don't place them any more so the likelihood of this happening is minimal

Thanks Pal , i think
The obvious point I was hoping to make is that it is not all Black and/or White.

They said shorten the piece of paper.

Ah but in this context it has not been logged. Still not worth re-visiting? I guess the ignore button is always an option.ruzzelz wrote:Come back for a nano that you have already found - not this little black duck.
Re: Are Nanos real caches?
As has been said before, it's about the trip and visiting a new place. Having done that, if it was impossible to sign the log at the time, I wouldn't be interested in going back to sign later. I've found the log too wet to extract at times and if the owner deletes my log, oh well. I'm not going back just for that.Team Rubik wrote:Ah but in this context it has not been logged. Lively debate!
How about this scenario:
People logging a find online, when all they find at GZ is the vestiges of a muggled container, with no logbook present?
