Cache Density

Post by 5commer3 » 01 January 09 11:29 am

Just having a look at my cache density page and it shows,

Cache Density:
Within 10 km radius
There are 66 caches (0 unfound).
Within 20 km radius
There are 88 caches (2 unfound).
Within 30 km radius
There are 107 caches (2 unfound).
Within 40 km radius
There are 126 caches (5 unfound).
Within 50 km radius
There are 169 caches (26 unfound).

The first unfound is 15.66
The second unfound is 35.74
The third unfound is 39.39
The fourth unfound is 40.72
The fifth unfound is 41.09
There are also another 16 caches that are under 50km from home,

Is this correct or is there a cache or caches somewhere that I cant see,

There are caches you can't see, well you can see them depending on how you look.

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga0731 which is marked temporarily unavailable. It will show up as around 15km from your home, but as it's temporarily unavailable it's hard to find on a map as we don't show them up*.

The second on is http://geocaching.com.au/cache/GC1K8B9 which is new and you haven't found yet.

In the interests of preserving consistency, I will not show caches on your unfound density that are not available. I've change that functionality and added a note to the page explaining which caches are shown.

Thanks for noting the discrepancy.

* We only show caches which can be found on maps and GPX files so archived and temporarily unavailable don't show as they can't be found.

I was going to suggest maybe it might be locationless that moved into the area, but it seems I was beaten to it, and by someone that checked ;)

Locationless caches don't have a location and they won't show up in proximity searches.

I hadn't realised there were tabs below the initial account page. I was looking higher up in the menus.
