The Riverina Geocaching Committee is very pleased to announce that the listing of Oz Mega Wagga Wagga is now published - GC1YJ5R

We thank everyone for their patience and the 12 months of hard work by the Committee has been to the benefit of the Geocaching community.

Our proud “Major Sponsor” is Riverina Camping World. And there are lots of other sponsors as shown on our Mega Event site - http://www.rivcache.com

As the Ump has said, we will be noting all the attendees and as the official number of “Will Attend” people (not teams) reaches 500, the event can be upgraded to “Mega” Status.

Official Registration for all details of your requirements for camping, merchandise, food and other details will be available on the Rivcache site as soon as our Registration system is complete.

We are releasing much of the Oz Mega Wagga Wagga details at this stage now. Many exciting surprises will be kept until closer to the event. The Rivcache site pages will be updated constantly.

The Riverina Geocaching Committee has put together a very professional package that will be the first ever Mega event in the Southern Hemisphere and the first ever “4 camping days” style event.

We look forward to your positive “Will Attend” logs.

Greg
President Riverina Geocaching Committee.

A reminder to many teams around Australia who will be certainly unaware that the much anticipated "Oz Mega Wagga Wagga " has been listed. :D :D

The GC is - GC 1YJ5R and will be the first ever Mega Event in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Committee is just calling for "Will Atttends" at this stage, so please log on, have a read of all the detailed information and when ready, post your Will Attend.
Please state: 1/ how many are attending and kids ages,
2/ if camping onsite, bunking or in town.
3/ and town / city, state you reside. Please state your country if outside Australia. :D :D

The very elaborate Registration page will be available in the near future.

Keep passing the message onto your caching friends as many do not go onto GCA and many just look at their own state page on Geocaching.com.and never look at NSW where its listed.

Thank You and the Riverina Geocaching Committee is certainly looking forward to your positive and exciting Will Attend logs and meeting all Geocachers at the actual event that is anticipated to be one of the friendliest ever.

The intended "Will Attend ' list has passed 400 individual people now as it edges closer to the 500 mark. :D

If you intend on coming ,the Committee urges you to place your 'Will Attend ' as early as possible to assist with all the logistics of the event including meals, merchandise, camping, bunk rooms, activities and nightly entertainment.

The event pages are being updated and streamlined constantly .You can place yourself on the 'Watchlist " to keep tabs on whose entering and Committee updates.
The Registration page will be ready very shortly. :D

If you are thinking of updating your camping gear for the event, please think of our Major Sponsor "Riverina Campingworld " who have their own links on the page. They will be open a on all days leading up to the event .If you see a special in their online brochure ,they will be happy to do the sale over the phone and hold it for you for pick-up.They have a two storey shop with great range of all your camping needs. From a small torch to a large tent ,its all in their colourful online brochure .
Give them a call and you will be assisted promptly .Mention you are attending the Oz Mega and ask for Debbie or Neil. :D

Please keep passing on the Oz Mega event to other caching teams as many will still be unaware its on. :D
Thank you for all the positive and exciting "Will Attends ' as the momentum builds to this unique event.
Thankfully,
Greg.

Hey guys - it looks like every one is hassling you... but in fact it is an indicator of the great crowd sitting, poised wanting to get their names on the list... keep up the great work - we from the eastern Islands are looking forward to a fantastic event!

The final touches are being put onto the detailed Registration page and system. It should be ready within the next 4 days. We do urge you to take you time and read it carefully when its released.
The status of the Mega Event is out of Australia's hands now. This is handled by Geocaching.com.
As stated on the sponsors page, 5 proud new sponsors were introduced last week and the "Code of Conduct " has been placed into the FAQ section with a link in the first question.
We have our first entry from Switzerland to add more international flavour.
We have also introduced a 3 hour surprise musical group to the Sunday Night entertainment from 5 pm till 8 Pm folllowed by the Whipcracking Show and all presentations.

Thank you for your patience ,Registration is almost here.

The Riverina Geocaching Committee wishes all geocachers a Merry Christmas and happy caching in 2010. :D

Thankfully,
Greg.

Just bring this up to the top of the page again, and wondering, has the event recieved certification from Groundspeak to upgrade it to Mega status? I am prompted by the fact its not listed in the weekly Groundspeak newsletter.

Hi all & Happy New year to everyone.

Just in case some did not notice, Registration for the Mega Event is now Open.

Please visit our web page at rivcache.com for full details & click on the Registration menu link.

The Mega status is currently under review & may be updated - but if not before the event,
then it will still be a Mega event provided we have more than 500 people in attendance.

So please continue to spread the word to anyone who has not yet logged their "will attend" on the Cache page -
Oz Mega Wagga Wagga so they can tell us their intentions and help the process of achieving Mega status.

Also, keep an eye on the Blog page for regular up-to-date information about the event.

Cheers,

Oz Mega Committee

When will the event be upgraded to Mega status and appear in the weekly notification from Groundspeak? Do you have to wait for 500 people to actually register to attend?

Possibly, because the Mega status is up to Groundspeak to approve, and as it is the first 1 here in Oz, it will need more 'will attends' before it can be approved to be a Mega. :(

But we only need 500 people - not 500 caching names, so we will be granted Mega status, sooner or later, as long as we have 500 here at Easter. If it is granted soon, then it will be in the Friday email to everyone. :)

Please be patient & spread the word.

Just curious, given that some of the mega events appearing in the latest notification have fewer than 100 will attends but the Oz Mega Wagga Wagga event currently has 225.
