WAGGA WAGGA MEGA EVENT - Easter 2010
Well it is time for the gloom and doom to STOP.
Riverina Geocaching have formed a committee and is itching to host Australia's 1st MEGA EVENT.
Plans are already growing and the main requirements that are needed are being obtained.
The place is a huge reserve just outside Wagga Wagga, with all the facilities needed for a big event.
The date - Easter (early April) 2010 - 18 months away
If we leave it 2 years to get started it will be 2010 and then the event will be in 2012.
Instead, with 18 months to plan it we can hold it in 2010, when the caching community will be larger.
Some said they would need a place to FLY into, but we ask you to think clearly - would you really fly all your family
and then hire a car to drive around caching for a weekend? You can still fly to Wagga if you want too. And teams can join up and share travelling costs too.
An announcement of more details will be happening very soon.
Lets get positive and see if we can get this off the ground.
So, now it is time for you to consider - do YOU want to be at the BIGGEST EVENT ever held in Australia?
Keep any comments short on this poll as there will be plenty of time and space for that when the announcement is made.
Spread the word - ask all your caching mates to come on here and lodge their interest.

I'll be there with bells on! Heck - given I was planning to head back down to Tassie when they were originally planning a Mega Event in Jan (but that is now scaled down to a regular event of some sort); a trip down the road to Wagga will be a piece of cake. There are heaps of caches in the vicinity too. I have every confidence that there will be sufficient numbers to make this a success.

Roostaman, we fully support the push and will encourage as many Sydney cachers to get down there.
Even if we can't crack the 500 mark to make it a mega event, it will be a great gathering, the likes that have never been seen in Australia.
Maybe the Kiwis from across the pond could be tempted. Geocachers from Melbourne and Sydney could offer to billet and drive them down.
I might speak to the people at Geotalk to see if they can talk it up.

Good luck It was a VERY short list that came for the 2.5 hour drive for the 24 hour this time last year ! That reminds me it still has not appeared on geotalk ah That long lost interview with JabsSpindoc Bob wrote:Roostaman, we fully support the push and will encourage as many Sydney cachers to get down there.

I must admit even though I would go "anywhere" I would probably mean within 3-4hrs drive... but perhaps I'd would put in a bid for Canberra for the location, but this would put it a bit far for the Mexicans but easier for the Sydney people..
having said this I would definitely go for Wagga if Canberra couldn't mount a bid..
