Why ? Cos you can !

Post by If » 02 July 08 11:49 pm

Someone has too much time on their hands
WHAT is the point of something so useless and dangerous. Just applying the brakes almost guarantees a face plant :D
:?

It uses gyroscopic technology to ensure that you don't faceplant, all you do is lean. Much like the Segway Transporters that have been out for a while.
Not really useless, compact and good for the environment!

Easy to do with Photoshop. Much, much harder in real life. Gyro only works laterally. The face planter opinion was correct.

After having a bit of a look at the website, you notice that their design does still have 2 wheels, it's basically a Segway, that looks cooler and is easier to tip over sideways on because the wheels are very close together.

Despite that, I'm in favor of the 'This thing does not actually exist' theory..

HOAX

Post by If » 09 July 08 8:52 pm

Somebody went to a lot of time and expense to build this thing :D
But it's gotta be a HOAX
Anyone with a smattering of understanding of the laws of physics can see it won't work. Notice how the machine is in exactly the same plane in every photo (except the ones with the trainer wheels deployed). The riders centre of gravity is way to high to take a corner or accelerate/decelerate (compare this to a Sedgeway)
At the first hint of a corner at speed the rider would be thown off.
All these pictures seem to be taken at a standstill. Why are there no tyre marks on the wet surface ? :P
"Busted"? :D
It's just a Sedgeway with a fancy paintjob

And the photo in Bronze's post is definitely a fake. Why is the background blurred as if the machine is at speed, but the wheel spokes are still in sharp focus ? Huh !! :P

Yes, all it takes is one video. Very suspicious that there aren't any.

Still a HOAX

Post by If » 14 July 08 5:13 pm

I never doubted that somebody had built the thing. Just the claims, both actual and 'implied'
It's like advertising. The look and pictures posted of the thing aimed to give the impression that this is a single wheel motorcycle capable of giving a 250cc machine a run for its money. An actual top speed of 15MPH is laughable given it's looks
At the claimed possible top speed of 40MPH there is no way it would corner and you will be guaranteeing yourself a faceplant if you stop any faster than a 100 car coal train 8)
