AAPT broadband

Post by embi » 28 May 08 8:00 pm

Is anyone else using AAPT for broadband and in particular for webspace?

I for the life of me cant work out how to access my webspace and their support people arent much help unfortunately.

I have tried 2 different ftp programs. I can access the server but its knocking me out on the username and password. Their support people are saying I have the correct username/password but it aint working...

any help out there?

Just one thing to try: some ftp sites need "username@isp.com" instead of just "username"

Sounds like a good reason to be looking for a new ISP, we were with AAPT and voted with our feet due to their poor customer service,

G'day Swampy :)

Seems to be the trend these days. I have never had much success at all with using ISP webspaces. Iprimus was terrible.

I use TPG ADSL2+ now. The connection is very fast (about 7000kbs) and the service is good, If you don't mind talking to little robotic Asian/American voices that all sound the same. Just remember the faster you go the more unstable and prone to interference your connection will be, so you may have to double your filtering at home.

Don't know if this will help, but we are with iiNet and I can upload things to our webspace using Windows Explorer, and the addres:

ftp://username:password@members.iinet.net.au/

It's worth mentioning that there's some options in ADSL that'll let you trade off some speed for reliability.

We were getting 7.7Mbps but dropping out several times a day, which is unacceptable if you're using the connection for VOIP on a regular basis.
So, we slowed it down to about 4.4Mbps (iinet has an easy online way to do this) and it's now a lot more stable.

And we have no problem using up our 20GB monthly allocation even at that speed!

www.whirlpool.net.au is a good resource for ISP issues and questions.
