Newbie to geocaching - Is it just a matter of luck. ie looking, looking , looking finding cache after cache after cache or is there some way to know where one may be placed
The family is going on a short holiday soon and thought it would be fun to take a "hitchhiker " (Did i use the right term) with us.
Thanks
Newbie How do I locate travelbugs and geocoins

Its more luck that you find one, but now a days its pretty common to find TB's or coins in caches.
Before you head out for a days caching, it might pay to take a look at the cache pages and see if there are any listed on the right hand side of the page. that way you know what to look out for when you get the find
Take a look at this for a quick rundown of where to track TB's, etc. If your going to do some travelling, then you might even want to buy one of your own

If you do a postcode search on Geocaching.com the list of results will display an icon next to the cache 'type' icon to show if there is a travel bug or geocoin in the cache.
eg Search Postcode 4000 for Brisbane
Scroll down the list and check out:
