Help Me Fix My Android Phone !!!!!!!

Post by misterdrewkittytoo » 11 December 11 8:09 am

is anyone in the geocaching community familiar with clockwork mod recovery on android as i need a bit of help

anyway here is what happened

yesterday i downloaded the android 2.3 update for my lg optimus black (p970) and rebooted my phone only to find it in clock work mod (i knew clockwork mod was there but i didn't think it would come up when i tried to install the update) i tried to find the update files in clockwork mod so i could flash them to the phone but i couldn't find them so i downloaded cyanogen mod 7.1.0 to flash onto my phone i tried to flash it but it didn't work then i read you had to wipe what was already on the phone to flash a new Rom so i wiped the phone and flashed it again i rebooted my phone but i was back in clockwork mod (BTW my version of clockwork mod recovery is 5.0.2.6) my question is how do i flash a Rom correctly and get clockwork mod to go away ill use any Rom and i don't care if my apps are lost (cos i wiped them)

Mum says i cant play my favorite computer game (minecraft) until my phone is fixed so can someone please help

There's some good news:
As long as you can get in to clockwork mod you have a recoverable phone.

I'm going to make one assumption, and that is that the Cyanogen Rom you have loaded is the correct one for your phone. (I take it you are aware that you cant just load any old ROM on to your phone)

Also, Make sure the ROM's Zip file is copied on the SD Card of the phone.

Try to do the following in Clockwork Mod

Do a data wipe.

Do a partition wipe.

Go down to Advanced
Do a dalvik wipe.

Back to Main Menu
Go to Install Zip from SDCard
Select Choose Zip from SD Card
(Your ROM name and location may vary....)

Flash your Cyanogen zip file.

Reboot.

If that doesnt work, your Cyanogen Zip file must be stuffed

You don't have a stuck button on the phone at all?

All I can think of is that you haven't got the right HBOOT on your phone to match the ROM and it doesn't have enough system space.

You will need to go to wherever you have been going for the ROM and see if you need to do anything with HBOOT to get it to work.

Playing around with different HBOOT configurations is also a good way to brick your phone entirely, you have been warned.

This probably isn't the place to be getting advice on how to do this with your particular device.

I would think the Whirlpool forums would probably be a good place to ask. Check out
