The advantage of planning a mega event 18 months plus in advance , is that , it gives great scope to adjust major factors early in the plans.

The Oz Mega Committee has had various reasons for not progressing with the Tumbarumba leg of the planned event.
So, we decided it was early days and an ideal time to adjust. We decided to completely move the event to one location.
We scouted wide to find a location that would fit all the required ingredients for a mega, that would suit more geocachers . We spent many hours of meetings, phone calls and enquiries and came up with a location that fits all the criteria. :D :D

The next location will host the event for all days at one location. Meals will be conducted by a mixture workforce from many rotary clubs. Geodogs are permitted. There are 74 powered sites and space for 2,000 tents. Registration will be cheaper and camping and meal prices will be at very family friendly prices.Plenty of caches about with over 100 within 13km's.We have had great assistance with a geocaching team who works at the mega site. :D
The tourism centre is involved as is the council and local Mayor. We will be placing the new details on a new topic for all indicative intents to attend next Tuesday night , 15 th March at 8pm.

The Committee thanks you for your patience and looks forward to all the intents from far and wide.

Just a friendly reminder that all is in place for release tomorrow night at 8 pm. :D

We have a whole new Mega location and all the details will be listed together with all the location and site pictures.

A reminder that it will be a new post , so this one here will be disreguarded.

Also , remember that its just indicative interests if you can attend. Doesn't matter if you say 4 now and its only 2 at event time. Nor does it matter if you state 2 now and its 5 later. Its just indicative.
If you think you are a 50 % chance or more of attending then post an intent and state probable numbers and what state you reside.

The Committee also is fully aware that most will not know 1/ work rosters and 2 / other circumstances this far out , thats why we are posting event dates and locations for teams to secure dates in their work and life scheduals .

I thank the Oz Mega Committee for all the keen work and we look forward to the release and all the posts.

thankfully,
Greg
President.

Could I request some "separate" feed for announcements which helps with the signal/noise ratio,
either a separate "locked" thread or even a twitter account with updates.
ie sometimes I miss these posts in-between other messages.

so this way people can subscribe to see updates from committee etc..

Look forward to the published event

thanks

Amen, I was thinking exactly the same thing. I know the commitee is trying to build interest but all I want to know is actual facts. At the moment the thread looks like a Demtel ad. (smoke and mirrors) Until yesterday I hadn't bothered returning for the past few months.
