The one I made from papier mache is in the shape of a bunny. I hope that's allowed - I didn't thnk about it. Maybe if I crochet him a gnome hat?

i m guessing there willbe.
I'd like to know how far i have to travel to gnab my first gnome.
( BTW, for those lacking in creativity, the local SAMS warehouse, a mega $2 store, has 4 christmas garden gnmoes with sleighs and candycanes and stuff like that for only $10.00... orders any one?)
Photo when i get back from work tomorrow....

Yeah, I reckon he needs a gnome hat to make him a bona fide GeGnome

Right. I'll get straight on to it - not at all sure how to crochet around his ears, though.

No need to crochet around them. Perch the hat on top of his head and use his ears to tie it on!

Gee.
Film canisters up their buts. Ears being used to tie their hats on. Cemeteries, coffins and hospitals for any and all abuse / accidents.
I think GeGnome police may be on to us in the not too distant future.

Actually, I was wondering if the hat might help keep his ears on!

I'm wondering if the local stores have noticed an influx of gnome purchases.

i just wished i got the same checkout chick at bunnings both times..that would of been funny/awkward/humerous i guess.
I finally foamed my gnomes! (and made a funky looking foam hand..)
and i lost an eclipse container in all the foam. whoops. for those who get my scout gnome, it now has two containers stuck in it. :S

So give us all the hints and "do"s and especially the "don't"s from the foaming. How long did it take to set? Did you do it in layers or all in one go? ANd did you spray it with water first to help it set? Also, did you try to clean the nozzle for future use of the leftovers? And how did you manage to NOT lose one of the eclipse tins in all the foam? Tie it down or what?

I haven't done it, but I always assumed that the foam would have the sort of consistency that you could carve with a sharp knife, the shape of whatever container you wanted to insert....
Can anyone confirm or deny?

Well, I foamed my gnomes too.
I half filled the gnome with foam and set aside to dry (standing on its head).
By the next day the foam had spilled UP AND OUT of the hole in the bottom and made a BIIIIIG balloon of foam.
It expands A LOT!
