H1N1

Post by ruzzelz » 03 May 09 8:33 pm

The epidemic which began in April of 2009, is caused by a new strain of influenza virus, officially called the "H1N1" -

Please give the pigs a break there is NO evidence linking this to transmission from pigs. In fact it appears the reverse with reports of people passing it to pigs.

Did someone say that the disease wasn't transmitted by pigs?

Apparently not in Egypt! -> http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009 ... 559200.htm :shock:

Reminded me of the hysteria about 12 years back when people were calling for flying fox colonies near schools etc to be culled because fear of some new virus.
As far as I could figure out, someone died in Qld who caught it off a horse which must have somehow got it from bats because one was found dead in Victoria which had the same virus. :roll:
Far more damage done from pandemic hysteria than is likely to come from this flu.

Another thing to keep in perspective, Less than 5 deaths in the US from Swine Flu, 36,000 deaths from seasonal flu each year in the US alone, 250,000 end up in hospital.

Not saying they shouldn't take precautions, but the media beat-up is/wasn't proportional to the problem.

Plus I object to anything that sullies the name of tasty, tasty bacon.

(I have the flu. Perhaps I shouldn't have eaten that Mexican hitchhiker....)

Methinks the Egyptian government has another agenda in removing their whole pig population, justified by the swine flu 'pandemic'. I'm just not sure what that agenda is!

I heard today that a woman rang 000 as she thought she had swine flu.
Apparently the operator couldn't hear her very well as there was too much crackling.
