Caches very close to Sydney and Brisbane airports?

Post by radionut50 » 14 September 07 6:07 pm

Butterfly_Lady and Radionut50 are preparing for a holiday in OZ during November, which will include changing planes at Sydney (international arrival to domestic departure) and Brisbane (reverse order). We (well mainly one of us) are keen to do a dash and grab for any airport caches at these spots if possible amid all the security. Anyone with some advice on whether there are nay close enough for this?

There is some talk about shutting down public access to the observation areas at BNE, with all the latest laser pointer hubbub. I hope it doesn't come to that.

BNE has "Smithy" GCTEW4, "Looking Up" GCGT1P (listed as a micro but it is a small). There are more in the area, but they aren't quick dashes to find.

Smithy is by the International terminal, so it may be tough to get to from a domestic flight. "Looking up" is a similar distance away in the other direction (1.6Km), so it is walkable if you have adequate time. Keep in mind you need enough time to clear security on the way back in.

Best of luck!

BTW, while you are here, you can pick this up:

Travel Bug Connector is an easy 10minute walk from the Sydney International Terminal http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... ?wp=GCKTHD
It's a good sized cache and if you have no time for others would be the easiest option. If you are enjoying the walk, you can continue on to Wolli Creek railway station and catch the train back to the Domestic Terminal. (Although if you have left Butterfly_Lady nursing the luggage that might not be an option!)
Hope you enjoy your trip.
