just looking for some suggestions outside the default sound alerts for tomtom for nearby caches.
I don't really want anything too whoop whoop which is fine for FTF but it gets a little tedious driving around town, but feel free to suggest if you like.

I had the whoop-whoop sound, but my family beat me with blunt instruments until I changed it to one of the 'polite' ones.

as I understand it if you load the mp3 file as the same name as the .ov2 file it should play this instead.

I thought it had to be a .ogg file.
I use one for the speed cameras that says "speed camera ahead" and its an .ogg file.
Should we make a sound?

assuming you have loaded them into eg via GSAK etc..
you search for nearby POI and select Cache

I don't use GSAK, and my tom tom doesn't have a category under POI labelled caches

I can't recommend GSAK highly enough.
Just one of its many talents is to export a TomTom POI file.

<p>But the TomTom does have the ability to add POI categories. So I just created one called Geocaching, generate the file from GSAK and copy it on. Then as I drive along little cache icons come up by the road, or I can search for them as I would any other inbuilt POI. Hadn't thought about doing the sound bit, though it could be annoying with all the work trips I do when I don't have time to stop for a cache!

Thanks this is very helpful. What do you mean by copy it on? do you mean onto a memory card? I figured out how to add a new POI category. How do i get the caches into this new category?

Yes, on my TomTom it just has everything on an SD card. So I just pop that into the card reader and it appears as another drive in Windows.
