Getting files into Tomtom? How?

Post by wombles » 04 October 07 12:44 am

I've just gotten Tomtom for my PDA/GPS phone (mitac mio a 701) and have the GSAK file but not sure where to put it/how to get it into Tomtom?

I can't even see how to get any waypoints in there besides putting in the coords etc one by one (Just like I do with my explorist which is the whole reason I got the Mio, so I could upload them instead)

(I'm not very techno savvy!) So any basic help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If it's the same as with what I've been playing with with my Ipaq in the past few days, you need to copy the OV2 and BMP files into the map folder for TomTom on your PDA.

I'm assuming you're already syncing your PDA with your computer, in which case it should just be a case of putting the files into the local sync folder that contains your maps... that's the theory anyway.

Thanks, that was so simple! It still (tomtom) doesn't seem very user friendly, but at least I can see the waypoints on there now!

I'm just getting the hang of TomTom at the moment myself. It does a few things a bit differently (I was using Destinator) but now I've nearly got it configured how I want, I think it's going to do most things I need it to do easily along the way.

I haven't used any of the programs before, only my magellan explorist.
I think I have it figured out now, thanks again for the help.
