Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?

I did my first 500 or so caches with an iPhone. I found that *if* you were lucky you would get 17metres of accuracy. On rare times I got a 9 metre accuracy range. I outlawed an Oregon 550 and I am extremely happy with it. 3 or 4 metres of accuracy is common and the reception is great almost everywhere. The topo maps are great as well, allowing less up and down hills where possible.

I was expensive, but well worth it.

My mistake.

The left head is responsible for spelling and obviously it was gaming a way oft (read having a day off)

does it still have only a serial connection? I've been googling and only found EtrexH... is that the latest one?

I've been using an iPhone but want to get a GPSr... more durable.... but don't want to spend too much $$ at first.... but I'm finding it all very confusing - any help would be great!
I would need a USB connection as we use MAC computers.

From the new eTrex release notes: "... The new eTrex series supports geocaching GPX files for downloading geocache locations and details straight to the unit using its high-speed USB connection. ..."

I assume (I know) that will apply to all the new eTrex.
