Kev
The application is great. I have been using it sucessfully on a LG U8360 with no problems at all. I have used both the CU500 and U8330 options when creating the files and it has worked fine on both.
As you suggested I have been using the http://game-thing.com site to upload the java files to the phone.
I have a few different PPQ files loaded in that have 200+ caches for different areas and it all works fine.
I cannot get PPQ to work on my LG890 as the game-thing website does not support it. Its says support is coming but I wont hold my breath.
So I have just had to swap phones with my other half for the time being.
Thanks very much for your effort.

Many thanks for the report on LG compatibility, mightybent! Java on LG phones is something of a black art, so the more information I can get, the better.
I'll add the U8360 to the list of officially-supported devices.
If ever game-thing.com gets around to supporting the LG890, I'll be happy to prepare a version for that device for you to try.

Samsung has been less than forthcoming with information about this phone; however, my research indicates it is closely related to the Samsung SGH-ZV40, information for which is available.diesel69 wrote:Do you have /can you do a version for a Samsung SGH-A501?
I'd like to put together an experimental build of PPQuery for this phone. If I do, will you be able to try it out, diesel69?
Thanks RAZRv3x
Kev,
Thanks for that. The app now using all the screen real estate available.
As mentioned earlier, I reckon the app is a terrific one, very practical.
You should consider the Motorola RAZRv3x in good working order.
Cheers,
herca.

Finally had a chance to play with v0.2 on the weekend. As per all my other postings on this piece of software, glowing reviews. Loved that the recently viewed is now stored between sessions, was most useful.
But to my next suggestion... And one you may already be working towards...
'List by distance' - good feature, but you need to be able to do that from where you are without typing in the digits. (I know, I'm lazy) But say I'm at a cache, I want to know where do I go to next that's closest. Would be nice if you could add the recently viewed list to the bottom of the saved locations, or provide some sort of search option for all the caches.
btw - I don't really need this option as I used a Garmin Quest fully loaded with caches. However I'm just thinking from a developer point of view.

Wasptor,
Yes, you will soon be able to get a list of caches by distance from any other cache, with the option of making the cache a permanent entry in the saved locations list.
As for automatically listing by distance from your current location, that information isn't available without a bluetooth or built-in GPS receiver, support for which is only available on a limited number of phones, and which is therefore not high on my priority list right now.
Thanks for the feedback!

Oh, I'd reckon Bluetooth was a pretty common feature on all but the most brick-like of phones. And I'm pretty sure any phone with BT will have the data part of the stack available.sentience wrote:As for automatically listing by distance from your current location, that information isn't available without a bluetooth or built-in GPS receiver, support for which is only available on a limited number of phones, and which is therefore not high on my priority list right now.
Yes, however, access to the Bluetooth stack from 3rd party applications like PPQuery is only available on relatively recent phones.Papa Bear_Left wrote:Oh, I'd reckon Bluetooth was a pretty common feature on all but the most brick-like of phones. This will definitely be possible on some devices, just not on all, and I'm focusing on features that will work on all devices at the moment.
I should be able to prepare a build for the N95 without too much trouble, but the version for the N73 should work as well, as the screen sizes are the same and I believe the Java platforms are close to (if not exactly) equivalent.2dudez wrote:I have a new Nokia N95 on its way. Will the N73 work for this one?
