new Garmin Hcx models

Post by mtrax » 18 July 07 10:04 am

I'm waiting on the new Garmin Legend Hcx, so I can upgrade my trusty etrex to a mapping GPSr, but wondering which is the best way to purchase.
I think the main issue is the base-map

ie I would like to get one shipped with Aus base map instead of US.

The best price I've seen so far is US$215 (+shipping) and from what I've seen these should be available next week sometime.

Actually if I can stand to wait a few more week till the rush as died down to see if there any issues I might look at getting one in late Aug

Anyone else thinking of getting a Hcx models?

I wouldn't be too concerned about the base map. I bought a 60CSx from the U.S and it came with their base map. They only show main roads and are VERY basic.

I put T4A PRO on mine and its a lot better then any base map would be. Others recommend shonkymaps too, but i am yet to try these.

Hope this is any kind of help.
