Post by Mix » 24 June 07 11:10 pm

I have destinator running on my 1710 and need to sort out a GPS for it, does any one have any experience in this regard to share?

I thought about a link cable to my etrex but would like to keep separate my on road and hand held.

any good ideas?

I should add I am looking at these so if anyone has given them a go I'd like your opinions

Does it have bluetooth??

If so a HOLUX unit from ebay is a great option. I got one for $55 and its about the size of a box of matches. It has a SIRF III chip and hasnt skipped a beat. I use it to connect to the Nokia N73.

Here's the one I bought ebay link

It would have Sd slot and should have a compact flash slot!! Either will take a GPS . My friend the broken one bought a compact flash unit and it works quiet well! The only trouble being is the bit sticking out the top.

Something such as this that is way shorter would be ok, this is a bluetooth adpt which would give heaps of options for add on's.this one isnt cheap with some hunting cheaper should be around.

Just checked the specs and you are caught by the short and curly's because you only have SD slot   which one thinks you have to use for storage! I did hear of cards that still had memory able :?: something more to look for.

Yes the SD slot is holding the maps so if i used a GPS in that slot it would need to also have memory. the SD GPSrs are also a little more pricey for what you get.

Looks like a cradle ! or sell the ipaq on ebay and go another, For not a lot more money you get more bells and whistles.

Mix I have one of the cradles with the built in GPS. Works fine. It looks a bit flimsey but I have taken it most places.
