I've been caching forever with VitoNavigator + OziExplorer on my PDA.

I've now also got a i-mate SP5 SmartPhone running Windows Mobile 5 and am interested in getting some software for it. Has anyone got any experience in this or recommendations for me? Either in terms of Waypoint Management software (I guess GSAK exported HTML should be OK) or mapping or 'follow-the-arrow' software.

I've noticed that GPSTuner has a version for SmartPhones, but that is the only package I can find so far.

I've got an XDA II mini. On which I run cachemate for Waypoint management and have found it to be pretty good only problem is the slow update of the database. Prior to this GPSSonar was my main tool.

I've run Beeline GPS, not a bad program, but my XDA is reaching the limit of its memory capacity which limited the number of Waypoints I could get on it. about 150 I think.

My main problem is with blue tooth. I had to load bluetooth tools to get the GPS recognised. The system now hangs on a regular basis; bluetooth related for sure.

I've got an XDA II mini.

It's more of a PDA form factor (touch screen) than SmartPhone isn't it?

A product that is possibly worth a look on Windows Mobile 5 is BeeLineGPS, there is also a 30 day evaluation copy.

There is also the free VisualGPSce, I have found this useful for testing GPS units on iPaq units.

Hmmm... do these programs have version for SmartPhone? I can't find that on their sites.

As I was trying to point out above... for programs to work on a SmartPhone they need to be built for that purpose, i.e. it's not just that its a Windows Mobile application... it has to be designed to work without the touch screen format.

Sorry, I read it as a unit running "Windows Mobile 5 Phone edition".
In the i-Mate phone edition the 'joystick' at the top of the keypad should be able to drive the application in place of tapping with a stylus. YMMV

Hmmm... it will? I didn't know that. I don't quite understand how it would, but I'll give it a go.

You can run Tom Tom on WM5 if you want. If you add a bluetooth GPS to the i-mate, then you have more portability again

Im still stuffing around trying to get it to work, but it does run on it

This is a bit of a thank you to the Garner Family in Brisbane, as they mentioned VitoNavigator in the first post of this thread.
I got a PDA a few weeks ago and have been trying different packages on it but hadn't seen any mention of VitoNav while Googling, so I looked it up and downloaded it and so far am quite impressed with VitoNavigator. It's Russian strangely enough, but I found it to be a good little package and great for caching. I have a GlobalSat BC-337 in my PDA and I'm very pleased with it's performance. OziExplorerCE with the UBD maps is great of course, but for actually finding caches, I swap to Vito when I get to about 100m away.
